Reels Tips: How to film flawless transitions

Let's start this blog with a question: what makes YOU stop scrolling and watch a specific reel? We go first: for us, text hooks, original/creative content, AND flawless transitions always get our attention. That's why we decided to write this blog: because we want you to capture your audience's eyes and ears with your content.

Here are 3 tips to create easy and well-executed transitions for your reels:

STEADY FOOTAGE

For many transitions, you do need steady footage to make it go smoothly. Tripods are ideal so you can record your video hands-free and ensure that your phone stays put so that your transition looks natural and steady.

TIMER AND ALIGN tools

Setting your video on a timer and using the align tool (remember them from page 1?) is also a huge help since you don't have to press stop when you're finished recording and you can see exactly where you stopped (remember to cut the first clip of the transition before you continue filming the second one!).

create blur

Choose a fast action that creates blur for easier transitions (like the arm swing below). This way you don’t have to be as exact in matching up the two scenes.

Simple, right? Now all you gotta do is PRACTICE! Creating flawless reels transitions can take some time and some trial and error. But that's alright, we promise you it's worth it! Good reels transitions can not only catch your audience's attention, but also want to make them watch your reel again and again, and engage with it! All you ever wanted for your Instagram account!

And remember! If you have any questions, put them in the comments below! We'd love to hear from you!
